I completely agree, this film didn’t quite hit the mark for me, but I did love the book as a child.

But yes, to an adult’s eyes, some aspects of it seem dodgy!

I still haven’t seen this movie, even though I liked the book a lot when I was little! I can definitely see where the problems with it could be when looking at it from an adult perspective though haha…

I saw it for the first time a few months ago (it was on BBC1) and I quite enjoyed it. I read the novel when I was very young and it was nostalgic to watch and remember parts again ?
