I don’t think the author lost her enthusiasm when writing this book, but she just deviated too much from the first half. It became a different kind of story. As it was published 18 years ago, it wasn’t part of the trend for Rebecca-like books that we are seeing lately.

I definitely liked the book at first, it was Rebecca-ish. However, suspense is not really O’Farrell’s style. Thanks for your comment 🙂

I haven’t heard about this book until now, thanks for reviewing it! I’ve had the same thing happen to me with quite a few books last year. I’m afraid that some authors may be taking on a trend and then just losing passion or something in the middle because my interest would also be gone by then
