On this day: Gaudah Singh arrives at Liverpool

22nd May 1910. Having travelled from Forçados, Nigeria via the African Steamship Company, Gaudah Singh arrived at Liverpool, England. He was a carpenter, one of many other men on the ship who were in the building trade.

There is no more information about Gaudah Singh and it’s possible his name might be misspelt on the passenger list. He seems to be one of many subjects of the British Empire at the time who travelled back and forth, bringing his skills to wherever they were needed. The African Steamship Company had by this time been taken over by Elder Dempster and Co.
