Reading, writing, blogging: my plans for 2019

Happy New Year! Here’s what I’ve got planned for the blog…

Book reviews! At least one a week. There will be the usual mix of ARCs, recent publications and older works. Often I’ll just read what I feel like, but I have at least a few planned. Look out for reviews of The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton, The Girl Next Door by Phoebe Morgan, The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary and The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal.

TV / film / stage reviews. I’d like to post about Doctor Who with an overview of all the ‘new’ series. I’m also going to watch and review every Simon Reeve documentary available on BBC iPlayer. What can I say, I like a challenge and I’m also a completist. I hope to write about films but they’d most likely be older ones.

Monthly series:Ā ‘Recommended author’ (in which I, er, recommend an author) and ‘The time-travelling bookworm’ (in which I look back at what I was reading the same month but several years ago). I might even start another series of something else. Lucky you!

Random posts about writing. These basically mean that I’m procrastinating over my work in progress, a psychological thriller for which I want to finish the first draft this year.

Creative writing, using various items (books, music, souvenirs) as inspiration. I hope you like it – I’m aware that it won’t be as popular as my features about books, but my aim is to practice my writing and I would welcome any feedback.

I will also continue to promote my favourite things: books, cats and tea.

Oh, and I’ll continue to create dodgy images using my favourite software, Microsoft Paint. You’re welcome.

  1. Wowwww! I love what you have in plan!! I wish I could do the same but my days almost always never turn out as planned! So I’ve given up planning and just go with the flow ? HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS, NS!

    1. Thanks Jee! If I wrote out a plan in public like this, I have to stick to it now! šŸ˜‰
Going with the flow sounds good. Happy new year and best wishes!

  2. So excited to see your tv/film review! I recently bought my friend The Clockmaker’s Daughter, and I might just buy one for myself too! Hope you had a great start to the year, NS!

    1. Thank you Jennifer! šŸ™‚
I have lots of exciting posts planned and so many books to read.

  3. I love your Time Travelling Bookworm feature ? also looking forward to seeing what you do with MS Paint (the most underrated of all the programs) ?

    1. Thank you! The time travelling feature is fun to write. I do love MS Paint. I can’t be bothered to learn to use anything more sophisticated for creating graphics šŸ˜€

  4. Thanks Norrie! Doctor Who is much talked about, you can’t ignore it šŸ˜‰

  5. Would you be able to do some posts with some hints & tips on writing blog posts? I probably put a bit too much pressure on myself but it takes me several days to write a single review lol.

    1. Sure, that sounds like a good idea – I think the key thing about writing blog posts is that less can be more, it depends on someone’s writing style though. But yes, I’ll put my thinking cap on and see what I come up with šŸ™‚
