There isn’t much plot to the novel, as it’s padded out with many descriptions of baked goods and hot beverages. The basic story is that the village vicar is found dead and a detective inspector, newly arrived from the city, is pointing the finger at the ladies of the Women’s Institute. It’s up to the cake-obsessed ladies, with the help of the dragons, to find the real culprit.

The writing style wasn’t my cup of tea, as it had lots of repeated words and kind of waffled on. Moreover, it’s not my usual type of read. It’s the first book in the Beaufort Scales series and I won’t be checking out the others. I know it will appeal to many readers though and despite a horrible incident with a rabbit, is quite a fun read.
