War of the Worlds is OK but I think makes better radio/TV/film than a book! H G Wells isn’t for everyone but if you do want to try him then maybe try some short stories or The Time Machine (which is my favourite one).

It might become your favourite Wells book! But seriously it’s not in the same league as The Time Machine. I’ll be interested to know what you think when you’ve got around to reading.

Yes the plot does have a cartoon feel to it somehow. It really isn’t one of his best!

I’ve only seen two or three episodes of SP but when I read ” The scientists are careless and allow the stuff to leak out from their experimental farm” I immediately though ” of course they did!” and thought about that character.
