After more than 2 years of featuring fantastic indie books on Substack, I have sadly decided, after much thought, to discontinue The Indie Books and Authors Newsletter. The main reason is that I simply haven’t been able to devote enough time to the task of gathering content, putting it together and promoting it. Originally I published the newsletter weekly, then fortnightly, and finally it was monthly, but this is still not working out for me.
There are a few other factors in my decision, other than time. One is that the world of indie publishing can be controversial and I have had decisions to make on authors who use AI, the purchase links as some people do not use Amazon, and what exactly qualifies as indie. Another factor is that I am not enjoying using Substack and much prefer WordPress. The good news is that I will begin a quarterly feature on my blog – starting from this July – in which I feature a carefully-chosen selection of new indie books. I feel that by moving this to my blog, I will increase visibility of the books, as I get a lot more views on the blog than of the newsletter. I have a new contact form for indie authors wishing to submit details of their new books.
A special thank you to everyone who has shared and commented on The Indie Books and Authors Newsletter, and an extra-special thank you to the subscribers.
