All over the internet, people are describing opinions as ‘unhinged’, ‘wild’, ‘insane’, and ‘unpopular’, or as ‘hot takes’. I think this is merely a way for their posts to gain attention and get to the top of everyone’s feeds, because whenever I see opinions described as these, they are usually not that extreme and the responses are in agreement. Funnily enough, the opinions which really are unhinged are often presented in ways to make them seem reasonable! I prefer my opinions to be ‘hinged’. You can find various list of ‘unpopular opinions’ on the web, but it does beg the question, if so many people agree with it, why is it unpopular? There’s your thought for the day.
