Chocolate-covered peanuts used to be a favourite treat of mine, but I’d never seen this product made without milk, until recently when I discovered that Candy Kittens made them. Not only is milk not in the ingredients, neither is cocoa. They are made with ChoViva, a chocolate alternative based on sunflower seeds. I wouldn’t like to assume this is healthier than chocolate, but it certainly tastes like chocolate, with the welcome addition of the salt on the peanuts. Candy Kittens are known for their gourmet vegan sweets, often in the shape of cat heads, but I’m not especially into sweets. The Treets Peanuts are somewhat different and I’ve seen them regularly on special offer, shelved not with the free-from items, but on the regular shelves where you find little chocolates in packets such as M&Ms and Revels.
In summary, the Peanuts are a nice ‘treet’ for vegans and I hope they continue to be made. You could say I’m ‘nuts’ about this snack!

Note: may contain traces of milk, other nuts and gluten. Always read the packet.
