I was packing up my books for moving and decided to keep only the books I loved or that I was planning to re-read. I still ended up with 8 boxes of books! I don’t need to keep these books – most will be available as e-books – but it’s nice to have my favourites in printed form. Most new books I read are e-books but somehow I feel that an e-book is not so much of a comfort read. The sense of ownership is different, too.
The idea of having just one shelf of favourites is appealing, keeping things tidy and spacious, but I could never get rid of so many old friends. At least I don’t keep every book I’ve ever had, or I’d be under a mountain of them right now.
I’m not getting a lot of reading done at the moment but please be assured, once I am settled a bit, the reviews will return!
Iโm in total agreeance with you! Though id love to be burried in books – funny enough, I keep dreaming im in-between towns and moving between houses.. and the ONLY thing im thinking of is my books ๐ canโt forget them!
I haven’t unpacked mine yet, mainly because I haven’t any bookshelves!
I’m of the mind that there is no such thing as too may books, just not enough bookshelves. Of course I am not moving and currently have plenty of space. I do try to force myself to weed the bookshelves from time to time and donate any books I will not read again and can come up with a reason why I don’t need it.
I like that kind of thinking ๐ I have to admit that my books are not unpacked yet (no shelves to put them on) and have got by with library books and e-books.
