Review of ‘Cher: The Memoir, Part One’

No wonder that Cher’s life won’t fit in one volume. I enjoyed the memoir and look forward to the next! It was an exhausting read, though, as in every chapter she seems to be moving house several times. It was very interesting to read about her family history and background, which was tough and emphasises Cher’s star power. As we find out, Cher almost wasn’t born at all… It’s a very bold and brave memoir with its share of humour as well as trauma. There is much about her relationship with Sonny and what the cultural scene was like in the 60s.

Cher was recently a guest on the Graham Norton show and her apparent reticence to discuss the memoir demonstrated that it doesn’t really need a lot of promotion; it’s by Cher, people will read it! There is a selection of photographs, which is a valuable addition to the book.

Published by HarperCollins, 2024.

  1. I am reading the book now. I have always been a Cher fan and the book isn’t disappointing.
