An excellent autobiography from one of our icons of stage and screen, Sir Patrick Stewart. At around 900 pages (for my library e-book), this was not a quick read. However, everything he said was so interesting that I didn’t mind the length of the book, which explores his life and career in detail. With wit and elegance, he writes about his humble beginnings in Yorkshire, how he got into acting, his long association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, his work in film and TV, his family and relationships, knighthood and even his lobster costume that went viral on social media. Sometimes it’s a fun read but can be quite sad, too. There are lots of fabulous anecdotes, as you might expect, plus a selection of photos. You’ll get the most out of this book if you are interested in both Shakespeare and Star Trek.
A highly recommended read.

I really want to read this…
Definitely worth a read! You won’t regret it.
🙂👍
I could imagine it’s interesting to learn about his life outside Star Trek. He is one of those actors, who will forever be connected with one role, despite doing lots of stuff. I once saw Waiting for Godot in the theatre with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen as leads. They both did a great job, but it was a bit like seeing Captain Picard meeting Gandalf…
LOL and I wonder how many people were at the play because of those roles. Or, for X-Men fans, you could say Professor X meeting Magneto! It’s a really good read with a lot of insight into acting.
I really want to read this! I used to watch Star Trek Next Generation after school in the late 90s, lol. Have enjoyed his other roles since too, but to me he’s always going to be Picard, and since it came out the voice of game The Sims Medieval which he does the narration of the intro to! lol
It’s an excellent read, you won’t regret it! Unless you really don’t like Shakespeare, LOL.
