The time-travelling bookworm: ‘Not Dressed Like That, You Don’t!’ by Yvonne Coppard

The funny thing is, as soon as the random generator threw up this teen book that I read back in 2002, I remembered the cover image straight away, if not the story. There were two legs. One leg was wearing sensible tights and a court shoe. The other leg sported a funky platform shoe. Obviously they did not belong to the same person. They represented the differences between a mother and a teenage daughter, the narrators of the book. It was first published in 1991, when fictional diaries were very trendy. I’m assuming it was an amusing easy read that would probably seem a little dated now. I still really like the girl’s shoe on the cover. It would be back in fashion now that we seem to be having a nineties revival.
