Recommended spooky reads!

It’s spooky season, so here are my recommendations for some seriously scary books that will send a cold shiver down your spine!

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson is a must-read modern classic of supernatural and psychological horror.

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager is a fantastically creepy thriller on the haunted house theme.

The Shining by Stephen King blends real and supernatural horrors in an impressively atmospheric novel.

Tina Vantyler’s series of real experiences, as told to the author. Some of these were terrifying, particularly True Tales of Haunted Toys.

British Library Tales of the Weird are themed collections of horror short stories by classic authors. The best ones I’ve read are Evil Roots, Crawling Horror, Our Haunted Shores, Holy Ghosts and Fear in the Blood.

Our Haunted Home in the Country by Dale Scott is a real account of a family who lived in a haunted home for thirteen years.

Ghostland by Edward Parnell is a memoir and exploration of folk horror.

Hall of Hauntings by N S Ford (that’s me!) is a hair-raising collection of spooky stories. I actually scared myself writing these, so I hope they scare you too!
